What is the difference between Hanafi and Shafi'i Asr?
In the Shafi'i method (also Maliki, Hanbali and Ja'fari) Asr begins when an object's shadow equals its height plus the noon shadow; in the Hanafi method when it is twice that, so Hanafi Asr is later (roughly 40–80 minutes at Iranian latitudes, depending on city and season). Iran's Sunnis in Baluchistan and the Turkmen Sahra are mostly Hanafi; Shafi'i is common in Kurdistan, Hormozgan and the south. You can choose either here.
How are these times calculated?
With astronomical formulas for the sun's position at the city's latitude and longitude (the PrayTimes.org method, based on the Astronomical Almanac). The Fajr and Isha angles come from the method you pick (default: Muslim World League, 18° and 17°). If your mosque or local religious authority publishes an official timetable, follow it; it may differ from this page by a few minutes.
Is daylight saving time taken into account?
Yes. Each city's clock comes from the IANA time-zone database. Iran has had no daylight saving time since 2022, and the times shown are in the city's official local time.
